One-sided AFL & NRL blowouts can’t be good for TV ratings?

Nine’s Friday share got close to Seven, but it wasn’t quite able to win the network TV ratings. Nine’s Friday Night Football covered yet another NRL one-side affair with Melbourne Storm hammering the Brisbane Broncos 40-06.

Seven didn’t have network-wide Friday Night AFL Football as it covered games on Friday afternoon in two markets and then an evening match in another two markets. (See below for TV ratings splits.)

Friday night gardening was a winner in the TV ratings with Gardening Australia and then Vera attracting timeslot-winning audiences.

10 didn’t manage anything over 300,000 on the public holiday. The Project and The Living Room found places in the top 20 with their smaller numbers.

Friday TV ratings metro shares primary and network

ABC 14.8% (18.7%)
Seven 20.4% (29.8%)
Nine 18.8% (27.1%)
10 7.9% (14.7%)
SBS 5.3% (9.7%)
