The road to love has had a happy ending for Farmers David and Matt, who followed their hearts in Sunday's Farmer Wants A Wife on Channel Seven and 7plus.

Before their final decisions were made, the farmers headed to their ladies' hometowns for one last chance to connect with them and meet their families.

Farmer Matt had one concern in mind as he arrived on the NSW Central Coast to meet Annabelle’s family: “Annabelle doesn't feel as comfortable opening up straight away and does bottle her emotions up a little bit. I think open communication and the ability to tell me how she's feeling in the moment is really important.”

Over in Brisbane, Emily’s hometown, Farmer David spent the afternoon answering some hard-hitting questions as Emily's mum thought finding out “where David actually is at this point in his life is really important”.

While lunching with Olivia’s family at their Wollongong family home, Farmer Matt got a harsh reality check when Olivia mentioned that she planned to visit him during the weekends. Matt, who thought Olivia was happy to make the move, was shocked: “If we had to do it long distance, I think that would definitely put a big strain on the relationship.”

Farmer David was vetted by Lorelei’s parents and her two brothers at their family home in Newcastle, following which her brother Harrison said: “I think this may be the happiest I’ve seen Lorelei with a partner before.”

After a long search to find love, it was time for the farmers to make their final decision.

Although wary of whether long distance would work with Olivia, Matt couldn’t deny their connection. Saying all his worries and nerves disappeared looking into her eyes, Matt declared his love: “I think I’ve known for a while that I have fallen in love with you, and I’m really glad I finally get to say it.”

Farmer David was torn between Lorelei and Emily: “I’m faced with the situation where I can see a pretty happy future with both the girls.” After weighing down his feelings for both the ladies, David realised that his heart belonged with Emily.
