NBC has ended business relations with Donald Trump following a “derogatory statement” made by Trump about Mexican immigrants.
During a speech announcing his candidacy for president on June 16, Trump promised to build a "great, great wall" on the Mexican border to deter "people with a lot of problems" from migrating to the US.
NBC released this short statement today about one of its high-profile talent relationships:
[blockquote]Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.
To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC.
In addition, as Mr. Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in The Apprentice on NBC. Celebrity Apprentice is licensed from Mark Burnett's United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue.[/blockquote]
Trump's company responded with a statement that in part reads:
