Nicole Kidman confirmed for Top of The Lake: China Girl

BBC Worldwide Australia and New Zealand has confirmed the long-held rumour that Nicole Kidman will be part of the cast of the follow-up series to the 2013 limited series Top of The Lake. Kidman has flown into Sydney, where she will join the cast of Top of The Lake: China Girl. The series will be shown in Australia on BBC First in 2017.

The six part season is produced by See-Saw Films for BBC Two in co-production with BBC First and Foxtel in Australia, BBC UKTV in New Zealand and SundanceTV in the U.S. and in association with Hulu in the U.S,. ARTE in France and BBC Worldwide.

The second season picks up four years on from the ending of season one.  When the unidentified body of an Asian girl washes up on to Sydney’s Bondi Beach, the case seems hopeless, until detective Robin Griffin discovers that 'China Girl' didn’t die alone.

The director of Top of The Lake, Jane Campion, last worked with Kidman on the movie Portrait of a Lady.

Kidman joins a cast that include's Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss, Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie, David Dencik, Alice Englert, and Ewen Leslie.
