Revamped Today show lags behind Sunrise

• Today, premiered yesterday morning with 197,000 metro viewers

New Today show

Nine’s revamped version of the long running breakfast television program, Today, premiered Monday morning with 197,000 metro viewers, lagging  behind rival Sunrise, which had 266,000 morning viewers.

In regards to metro plus regional viewers, Today had 311,000, while Sunrise had 427,000 people tune in.

The new line-up consists of Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight, with newsreader Tom Steinfort, entertainment reporter Brooke Boney and sports presenter Tony Jones.

This was less than January last year, when Georgie Gardner came on board to replace Lisa Wilkinson as co-host, where 256,000 metro viewers tuned in.
