As well as the return of FBI agents Mulder and Scully, this new incarnation of The X-Files will bring back fan favourite characters like the Smoking Man, Walter Skinner, and The Lone Gunmen. Guest stars will include Joel McHale, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, and Rhys Darby.

Original series writers Chris Carter, Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, and James Wong will return to both write and direct an episode of the new series of episodes.

The X-Files returns to Channel Ten in January 2016.
