Friday nights specials: Footy replay – Demons and West Tigers win again

The Friday night footy winners last week – Melbourne and Wests Tigers – won their Friday night hit-outs again and helped AFL and NRL host broadcasters win the TV ratings.

Seven was a clear TV ratings winner with a dominant network share and #1 primary and multichannel shares.

Seven’s AFL clash saw the Brisbane Lions end the first half the better team. However the small but passionate crowd at Giants Stadium and the much bigger TV crowd saw a remarkable second-half turnaround for the Demons, now firm premiership favourites.

The Seven crowd of 623,000 was short of the previous week’s 2021 Friday record of 679,000 tuning in.

Better Homes and Gardens also contributed to Seven’s TV ratings win with 521,000.

Wests Tigers were clear winners in another one-sided NRL match with 368,000 watching on Nine and 9Gem. Nine was a winner in Sydney. The contest in Brisbane was closer between Nine and Seven, but Nine still ranked #1 despite the Brisbane Lions taking part in the AFL Friday showcase game on Seven. As soon as the NRL ended, the AFL later finish ranked #1 in Brisbane for Seven.

10’s best was The Project 7pm on 406,000 followed by The Living Room on 386,000.
