Whether it’s a childhood jingle that you can still sing word for word, or a campaign that influences the way you work today, everyone has an ad that has really stuck with them.

Mediaweek has been asking the industry to take a trip down memory lane, to find out all about the ads that made us.

Ken Rodrigues – AU/NZ Creative Manager, Acast

Cottee’s Cordial

"All you need to do is hum a few bars of this classic earworm and you’ll be transported to a world of sickly sweet goodness that is Cottee’s Cordial.

"The jingle as we knew it is now a thing of the past, but this was an iconic piece of audio branding for Cottee’s and a tune that will stay with me for a long time to come!

"Although my palette has somewhat evolved since my childhood, it wasn’t a party until mum cracked open the Coola Lime."

Alfie Lagos – Director and Founder, LexLab

The Garage ad by Cadbury

"An ad like this would never have made me well up before having my daughter (aged 7), but there’s something about the indifferent tenderness the daughter shows her dad that feels inevitable... It’s either that or my deep, deep tender love of chocolate."

Rachel Terkelsen – Melbourne Creative Director, Principals

Colgate Gel

'Let me in' – A simple phrase with so many uses.

"The Chevron nightclub queue. The select entry course. The fully booked hair and makeup artist. The office meeting room overstayer. And obvs the one-bathroom household.

"And in the ubiquity of its application lies the stickiness of this 1985 Colgate ad. It is so often recalled, verbatim.

'Let me in Sean, let me in.'

"My kids, to inevitable cringes, get the extended performance.
“No, I was in here first.” “I bet you’re using my Colgate gel.” “Mmmm, tastes terrific too.”

"Credit where due, Sean’s performance was gripping. #WhereIsSeanNow Surely he gives Not happy Jan a run as a great Aussie classic."
