The Daily Telegraph podcast, The War, has been nominated for three awards at the International News Media Association Awards (INMA).

The publication's podcast franchise is in production following a fresh spate of violence that has torn apart Sydney’s underworld.

Among the awards it has been nominated for are; Best New Video Product or Feature, Best Initiative to Acquire Subscribers and Best Use of Visual Journalism and Storytelling Tools.

INMA said it had attracted 775 entries from 239 news brands in 40 countries, with finalists hailing from Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe, Latin America, South Asia, and North America.

Winners will be announced May 26 in New York.

Senior crime reporters Mark Morri and Josh Hanrahan launched The War as a four-part video series in early 2022 and have since grown it into the masthead’s most successful editorial franchise, tracking the bloody rise and fall of Sydney's criminal elite.

The Daily Telegraph's editor, Ben English, said the nominations reflected the editorial team's tenacity and determination to get the best scoops.

"These nominations not only show our team's unmatched ability to report the stories that matter to our audiences but to then show a willingness to innovate how we tell these stories, employing multiple channels across video, audio and print," he said.

News Corp Australia has performed the strongest of any Australian media organisation in the INMA nominations.
