the great australian binge

The Great Australian Binge allows Australians to vote online for the Australian film or show they’ve loved watching in lockdown and then sign a petition calling on Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts The Hon Paul Fletcher MP to do more to support the entertainment industry.

This is part of the screen industry’s joint campaign to demonstrate the value and popularity of home grown TV and film to government and corporate decision makers, with the claim that the Morrison government has failed to provide significant financial support to the sector.

This follows the Make it Australian campaign, calling on the government to evolve rather than devolve the current local content quotas and introduce local content quotas for streaming services. It is backed by the screen sector, including Screen Producers Australia, MEAA, the Australian Writers' Guild and the Australian Directors' Guild.
