With the start of the new year, we take a look back at the top 25 media personalities who stood out in the Australian media landscape in 2015.

GREG HYWOOD
CEO, Fairfax Media

Greg HywoodPutting the Fairfax boss in a list of the year’s high achievers will shock a few, but he continues to lead a business that his critics thought would have been wound up some time ago. The company certainly is more about challenges than triumphs, but it continues to deliver a profit and remains a buy recommendation from many analysts. The big audiences attracted by the company’s digital properties indicate the brands are still valued by many. Some of the more interesting recent plays include the Stan JV with Fairfax’s $50m investment, the recent JV for Drive.com.au, the expansion of the events division and the continued growth and value of the Domain business plus this week’s investment in Nabo. The radio division was spun off into Macquarie Media where Fairfax has the majority stake with former Fairfax Radio boss Adam Lang to take over in 2016.
