TV Demand: The Mandalorian and The Walking Dead enjoy top spot

For a second week, The Mandalorian has topped the digital original TV demand charts ahead of its season three premiere on March 1.

This past week, the series has come in 25.9 times more in demand than its competitors in Australia and 13.75 points above average in New Zealand. At its peak in 2020 and 2021, The Mandalorian spent 10 weeks at the top, before being overtaken by Cobra Kai.

Netflix's Stranger Things remains a force to be reckoned with as it sits comfortably at second in Australia and New Zealand's digital original charts. As pre-production for Stranger Things season 5 continues, Noah Schnapp revealed that the final season of the hit Netflix series will begin filming in May, according to ScreenRant.

In Australia, Paramount+'s 1923 placed third as the streaming platform announced that new episodes of the show would return on February 5 after the latest season took a break. The series follows a generation of the Dutton family in 1923, during a time of various hardships, including prohibition, drought, and the early stages of the Great Depression.

In New Zealand's digital originals, Amazon Prime's The Boys came in at third. The series is based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and developed for TV by Eric Kripke. The show follows a team of vigilantes as they fight back against superpowered people who abuse their abilities.

In overall TV shows, The Walking Dead reclaimed its spot at the top with 26.26 points in Australia and 17.83 in New Zealand. The Walking Dead universe is set to see a significant expansion after the flagship series story has closed.

In Australia, Game of Thrones has come in at third, just below The Mandalorian, with 23.47 points above average. In New Zealand, the popular show moved up to second from fourth, with 16.06 points above the market average. 

In New Zealand's overall shows, the new series, The White Lotus placed third, moving up one spot from last week.
