TV Ratings August 27: Rare NRL and Rugby combo comes out tops for Nine

Total TV Ratings, August 20

The ABC's Grantchester was the top non-news program in the total TV ratings as the British detective drama had 777,000 viewers, an increase of 27% on its overnight viewership.

Seven's Saturday AFL coverage was the top commercial non-news program for the night with an audience of 526,000, this reflects an increase of 2% on its overnight TV ratings.

Getaway was the top entertainment program on Nine with 396,000, an increase of 6%.

The top entertainment program on 10 was a repeat of Dog House Australia which had 281,000 tune in after increasing its audience by 4%.

Nine has secured another TV ratings survey win after claiming both the #1 primary channel share (20.1%) and network share (30.1%) last night. This was thanks in part to a rare Saturday NRL match which had 264,000 watching the South Sydney Rabbitohs takings on the North Queensland Cowboys. Earlier in the day, 233,000 watched the Wallabies knock off South Africa in the Rugby Championship.

On Seven, a repeat of Border Security: Australia's Front Line had 335,000 viewers before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had 204,000.

On 10, back-to-back repeats of The Dog House Australia had 180,000 and 201,000 viewers.

On the ABC, Grantchester was the top non-news program of the night with 405,000 tuning in for the British drama.

The top program on SBS was The World's Most Scenic Railway Journeys with 145,000 viewers

The NRL match between South Sydney and North Queensland on Fox League was the top program on Foxtel last night with 284,000 tuning in. The other NRL matches of the night also performed well as Cronulla-Sutherland versus Canterbury-Bankstown had 205,000, and Canberra taking on Manly-Warringah had 163,000.

The AFLW match between Essendon and Hawthorn had 65,000 viewers while the NRLW match between Sydney and Brisbane had 57,000.
