Vodafone outage impacts calls to SA Police assistance line
The public has been assured they can still access support when needed.
South Australia Police confirmed earlier this morning that calls to its Police Assistance Line (131 444) were disrupted due to a technical issue affecting Vodafone services.
SAPOL said at 7:06am that the problem was under urgent investigation, with some Vodafone customers in South Australia unable to connect to the non-emergency police number. At no point were emergency calls to Triple Zero (000) impacted.
The Police Assistance Line is used for non-urgent matters such as reporting potential thefts, suspicious behaviour, or issues that do not require an immediate police response. During the outage, SAPOL advised residents who could not reach 131 444 on a Vodafone mobile to try calling from a landline or another network.
The issue was resolved by 10am.
A Vodafone spokesperson confirmed: “The technical issue in South Australia affecting some calls from Vodafone customers to the Police Assistance Line (131 444) has now been fully resolved, and services are operating normally. Triple Zero (000) remained fully operational throughout. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience.”
SAPOL said it will continue to provide updates if required, but normal access to the Police Assistance Line has now been restored.
