Aussies star on track, Giants upset Cats, Souths hammer Eels

Tokyo 2020 Fay 14 Aussie Track

TV ratings: Seven

The broadcaster had another Friday of TV ratings riches with Olympic Games Day 14 on Seven, 7TWO and 7plus and then AFL for viewers on 7mate.

Finding a Gold medal proved difficult for Australian competitors, yet we were well represented in finals across the day, picking up silver in beach volleyball and bronze in the javelin.

7mate was the #1 multichannel with 10.5% with 7TWO next best on 3.7%.

Seven News attracted the biggest crowds with viewers again feeding on Covid-19 updates and Olympic reports. The audience for both half hours after 6pm were over 1.2m.

Seven’s Late Night audience watching the javelin competition had the next biggest audience with 1.19m, followed by Evening on 1.0m and Night on 1.14m.

The Tokyo 2020 Afternoon audiences were on 759,000 for the beach volleyball and then 639,000 for Late Afternoon.

Friday Night Football pushed into the top 20 with 393,000 watching GSW Giants upset one of the premiership favourites Geelong.

Nine News was just under 1m at 6pm and then the audience slipped to 897,000 after 6.30pm.

A Current Affair was on 636,000.

The Friday Night NRL clash featured South Sydney too strong for Parramatta with 299,000 watching.

The broadcaster had two entries in the top 20 – 10 News First at 5pm with 399,000 and then after 7pm The Project was on 347,000.

The Living Room screened a repeat again and had 246,000 watching.

ABC

ABC News was on 633,000 at 7pm.

Movin’ to the Country was in Queensland, starting on the Sunshine Coast and then travelling further north. The audience was 352,000 after 368,000 a week ago.

Dream Gardens was on 315,000 after 346,000 a week ago.

Midsomer Murders saw the channel’s numbers climb higher with 439,000 watching.

SBS

The primary channel’s high point was SBS World News at 6.30pm on 145,000.

Next best later in the night was The Sit In: Harry Belafonte Hosts The Tonight Show with 84,000.
