The Living Room lifts 10’s share, but footy keeps 7 and 9 top two

The return of a new season of The Living Room lifted 10’s Friday TV ratings week-on-week, but not enough get to double figures. The lifestyle format didn’t much dent the lead that Seven and Nine have over their commercial opposition thanks to AFL and NRL respectively.

ABC also performed well again thanks to its Friday night drama Vera plus its lead-in – Gardening Australia.

Seven’s Friday night AFL featured Geelong taking on the Brisbane Lions. There was some concern surrounding the footballers from Brisbane after the recent discovery of a new Covid case in the Queensland capital. Those watching would have stayed right until the end though as the Cats won by just a point in a Friday night thriller.

In the NRL on Nine, South Sydney were more comfortable winners over the Roosters as Russell Crowe entertained a group of Hollywood movie stars in his owner’s box at the game. The NRL metro audience was just under 400,000.
