Cummins&Partners announced the appointment of Luke Maher as its new head of media.

Maher returns to Australia after four years in the UK. He will work across the independent agency’s media only and integrated accounts, and will be working out of Cummins&Partners’ Melbourne office.

Maher also worked at London firms Mindshare and GTB. Before moving to the UK, he worked at the Melbourne offices of Initiative and Maxus Global.

Maher’s hire comes amid a period of growth for the agency, with the company combining its creative and media offerings to clients.

Sophie Lander, national managing director of Cummins&Partners, said: “We are thrilled to have Luke join our team at a pivotal time in the agency as we are resetting and strengthening our integrated media and creative offering, in line with our new positioning.”

“Luke’s unique skill set of being able to lead creative and media-integrated clients will be critical to our clients and our team’s success,” she added.

Michael McConville, Cummins&Partners global chief executive, said: “Luke immediately stood out to us as someone who can not only offer innovative thinking in a collaborative and integrated way, but felt like the missing piece to our team as we embed our new positioning and operationalise how we enable and facilitate our clients to ‘Grow Wildly’.”

Maher said of his new role: “I’m super excited to be joining a Cummins&Partners team that is strengthening their integrated offering at a time when clients are needing it the most.”

“I’ve always been a big believer that creativity is the biggest unlock in media – the problem is the majority of media planners don’t consider the creative at all. I can’t wait to get started.”

Earlier this year, the creative/media agency set up as a micro-network creative consultancy across Melbourne, Sydney, and New York.

Michael McConville, global CEO of cummins&partners said: “We’ve spent the last few months redefining what creativity means for us and our clients.

“This agency launched with something fresh, based on our unique output at the time. Now we’ve found what will be fresh for the years ahead. Not just what we do, but how we do it.”
