Dentsu appoints John Fairley as the new head of design

• Fairley will be based in Sydney and oversee combining the design resources across ANZ

Dentsu has appointed John Fairley as the new head of design.

The addition of Fairley to the Japanese advertising and public relations company will see him based in Sydney.

Fairley will oversee combining the design resources across the Australia and New Zealand offices to bolster dentsu's branding and advertising design capabilities.

His work has been honoured at the world’s best design and advertising award shows. He now looks to bring that acclaimed success to dentsu’s clients across the region.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the fabulous team here at dentsu. There is a real buzz about the company that is completely infectious. I am looking forward to collaborating with the inspiring folk around me to create award-winning, never before work," he said.

Fairley spent the last five years as design director at Curious Productions in London, and led the agency across many aspects of design including traditional and digital advertising, social, motion content and of course, brand design.

Clients have included Lego, MARS, Rolls Royce, Patek Philippe, Diageo and Vodafone.

Marcus Tesoriero, executive creative director at dentsu, Australia, and NZ said of the appointment: "Attention to craft is the difference between good agencies and great agencies.

The appointment of Fairley comes after Dentsu announced the appointment of BWM Isobar’s Tim Powell to the newly created role of chief PR officer ANZ, last week.

Powell will lead the PR side as the company plans to build a more integrated offering.
