Rose Byrne shines for the Aussies at Golden Globes
She nabbed an award while her hubby was out getting a 'bearded dragon'.
Australian Rose Byrne has grabbed her first-ever Golden Globe award.
The 46-year-old actress won the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards.
“Of course, I didn’t prepare anything,” a visibly emotional Byrne said.
A shocking performance
“Thank you so much. This is such a shock.”
She added: “Thanks to my mum and dad, who bought Paramount+ so they can watch the Golden Globes from Sydney! I want to thank my husband, Bobby Cannavale, who couldn’t be here because we’re getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey, so thank you, baby!”

Byrne emerged victorious in a very tough category that also featured Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: For Good), Emma Stone (Bugonia), Kate Hemsworth (Song Sung Blue), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), and Amanda Seyfried (The Testament of Ann Lee).
She has been nominated for a Golden Globe twice, both times for her work on the hit TV show Damages in 2008 and 2010.
If I Had Legs I’d Kick You has received critical praise, with Rolling Stone singling out Byrne’s performance.
“The Bridesmaids actor is particularly on-point here, crafting the sort of exquisitely raw, white-knuckle performance that feels so voyeuristic and personal that, if you had any decency, you’d look away,” the review reads.
“She ensures that you can’t. Some might qualify it as If I Had Legs I’d Kick You as a comedy, albeit one brimming with barely contained rage, while others might describe it as a horror movie. Either way, it’s the kind of film that makes you want to call your own mother and apologise.”
