TV Guide: The 80th Golden Globes ceremony on Stan

The Golden Globes will be the first live awards ceremony that Stan has broadcast

The 2023 Golden Globes will kick off at 11am AEDT, January 11 with the nominees taking to the red carpet. The Awards ceremony will begin from 12pm AEDT. 

Stan has acquired the exclusive Australian rights to the Golden Globes, broadcasting live at the same time as the U.S. Airing the Golden Globes will mark the first time that Stan has broadcast a live awards ceremony.

Taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, this year marks the 80th anniversary of the awards ceremony.

The event is set to be hosted by comedian Jerrod Charmicael of The Carmichael Show.

As presenters of this year’s awards, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has named Ana De Armas, Ana Gasteyer, Billy Porter, Colman Domingo, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Natasha Lyonne, Nicole Byer, Niecy Nash-Betts, Quentin Tarantino and Tracy Morgan.

A huge array of Australians are nominated, including Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, Cate Blanchett, Hugh Jackman and Baz Luhrmann.

Honouring the best of film and television, Stan Exclusives will celebrate seven nominations at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, including best actress in a musical/comedy series for Jean Smart in Hacks, alongside Hannah Einbinder for best supporting actress.

Better Call Saul is nominated for two awards, including best drama series and best actor in a drama series for Bob Odenkirk.

Kevin Costner is nominated for best actor in drama series for Yellowstone, Julia Roberts is nominated for best actress in a limited series for Gaslit, and finally, Hacks is a contender for best musical or comedy series.

Nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama are Avatar: The Way of Water, Elvis, The Fabelmans, Tár, and Top Gun: Maverick. Nominated for Best Motion Picture Musical/Comedy are Babylon, The Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Triangle of Sadness.
