The most important story HuffPost Australia covered this year can’t be summed up by one post, video or social media event. The HuffPost Australia team has poured enormous energy into our coverage of mental health – across our blog platform, articles and videos on our site, and on social media.

From the beginning we’ve prioritised mental health because of our values, but we’ve learned good quality mental health coverage also draws a big audience. Australians are looking for a grown-up discussion on this topic that affects every one of us in some way.

Some of the highlights of our coverage included a powerful blog by Ian Thorpe, work we’ve done with new Lifeline ambassador Dara Hayes, a hugely engaged Facebook live broadcast with Hayes and Lifeline CEO Pete Shmigel, and a series of video features, including this powerful story of recovery from PTSD.
