Our annual listing of 25 media executives who made a difference this year and are shaping how 2018 will look.

James Clement, Claire Tonti and Nick Mason, Founders, Planet Broadcasting

The story behind this Australian podcasting network is nothing short of a movie storyline with a happy ending. Husband and wife pair James Clement and Claire Tonti, along with their friend Nick Mason, launched the network in 2015 off the back of Clement and Mason’s The Weekly Planet podcast series.

Clement and Tonti used to work as primary school teachers. Meanwhile, Mason chose to keep his day job as a tram driver in Melbourne. Tonti’s advice for anyone looking to change their passion into a job is, “Just do it gradually. Do it while you do your day job and cut back the hours slowly.”

Planet Broadcasting currently has 16 podcasts in its network, including Wil Anderson and Charlie Clausen’s well-known series Tofop.
