Screen Queensland and Stan to finance SVOD feature film

Screen Queensland (SQ) announced an Australian first this week as it partners with Australian SVOD service Stan to develop and finance a $1 million feature film.

This first Australian SVOD-exclusive feature film commission is open to Queensland producers and creative teams (comprising writer, director or writer-director, and producer) to develop and produce a $1 million feature film, fully financed by SQ.

The initiative aims to position Queensland in the first wave of early screen adopters to new and changing distribution methods, and to demonstrate that these can co-exist with the pursuit of Australian theatrical audiences and international festival audiences.

The winning team of the three will go on to receive production and distribution support comprising:
•  A $1 million production budget
•  An event theatrical and festival release
•  Distribution through Stan’s SVOD service
