Nine has this morning confirmed that Greg Barnes has been appointed its new chief financial officer.

Barnes, who replaces Simon Kelly, joins Nine from outside of the media sector at building company CSR – manufacturer of roof tiles, plasterboard, bricks, and other building materials.

Prior to Barnes role as CFO at CSR, Barnes worked at explosives business Dyno Nobel. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has an MBA from the Macquarie School of Management.

Nine chief executive officer Hugh Marks said: "I am delighted to appoint Greg to the role of CFO. His extensive financial and public market experience will prove invaluable to us through this period of industry evolution. As we move to take advantage of opportunities that lie ahead in the media sector, his broad sectoral experience will prove a valuable addition to the senior management team."

Barnes added that "I'm thrilled to be joining NEC and to working with Hugh and the team. NEC has a great history, strong market positions, and is well placed to play a leading ole in a pivotal time for the industry."
