Just over a year into the position and Marks and his team did a good job steadying the ship after a horrid start to 2016 for the TV business. The troubles included the 60 Minutes Beirut fiasco and the ratings slide when shows like Australia’s Got Talent and Reno Rumble failed to perform. The Block and Nine’s new drama Doctor Doctor helped to pull audiences back. Stan continues to look like a great investment and should return a handsome dividend eventually. People will judge Marks on the 2017 ratings performance, how the much-expanded Nine.com.au stable performs and if a refreshed Nine news and current affairs senior team (including promotions for Grant Williams and Mark Calvert) can halt Seven’s rising news ratings tide.
