MediaSmiths has been appointed to work with Queensland industry body Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland (MPAQ), kicking off the partnership with a new awareness campaign.

As part of its remit, the independent media agency will manage both offline and digital campaigns for the association. The appointment is effective immediately.

MPAQ is the peak industry body representing plumbing contractors throughout Queensland, including sole operators, medium-sized plumbing businesses and large-scale operations. The association advocates for the sector at a state and national level, while also providing high-quality support and services.

MediaSmiths will launch the MPAQ account win with a new, multi-channel campaign aimed at creating awareness for Queensland homeowners on the importance of using a licensed plumber to ensure work is compliant and safe, and using MPAQ’s "Find a Plumber" search tool to search for a licensed plumber.

Mike Smith, MediaSmiths business director, said: "We are very excited to have MPAQ on board with MediaSmiths. We were immediately impressed with the organisation’s commitment to driving innovation for its members and working collaboratively to protect consumers and promote the industry. We’re looking forward to working with the MPAQ team to create media campaigns that promote, inspire, and bring important attention to important plumbing sector issues.

"Our new campaign for the association is an important one – building a greater awareness of the need to use a licensed plumber, drainer, or gasfitter is critical to the safety and well- being of the general public.

"Using a plumber, drainer, or gasfitter who is not licensed, insured or properly credentialled could lead to potentially hazardous work that is not compliant for customers, so we’re looking forward to bringing this important safety message to life through a multi-channel media strategy," he added.

Penny Cornah, MPAQ executive director, said: "We’re excited to create campaigns that promote the use of licensed plumbers, drainers, and gasfitters.

"A lot of people don’t realise that most plumbing, drainage, and gas work must be completed by someone with a licence, and not doing so may lead to your insurance being voided or dodgy work being performed."

The MPAQ appointment comes on the back of several recent client wins for MediaSmiths, including national homecare provider Just Better Care, the Australian Dental Association, and Odoo.
