The inaugural Mediaweek Academy is set to launch in just over a month, kickstarting on February 22, 2023.

The 10-month program is jam-packed with invaluable media knowledge from a bumper lineup of Legends and Superstars, including John Steedman, Rebecca Drummond (Wavemaker ANZ), Mark Buckman (Accenture Song), and Duncan McGrath (Google), among others.

Mediaweek has teamed up with the IMAA to award two individuals a Mediaweek Academy scholarship.

The 2023 MW Academy scholarships have been awarded to Enigma’s Brooke Tunbridge and Kaimera’s Olivia Scott.

On applying for the scholarship, Tunbridge said, “I began writing my application as soon as the scholarship opportunity was shared with us. I had previously read all about the planned course topics of the Mediaweek Academy and was thrilled at the possibility to be able to participate.

“I’m most looking forward to learning from course curator and tutor, Greg Graham. I very much admire Graham’s passion for the industry and the genuine interest and active involvement in making it better.

“In 2023, he will be celebrating 50 years in the industry. To think the amount I’ve learnt after only being in the industry for a few years, I realise how much I’m yet to learn.”

Led by industry expert Greg ‘Sparrow’ Graham, the course will feature a special blend of interactive elements, Q&A, regular lectures, a feedback loop, and a personalised action plan to implement back in your business after each session.

Scott said, “I applied for the Mediaweek Academy as I feel like I’m at a critical juncture in my career where I want to focus on my development to ensure I can equip myself with all the necessary skills to be a future leader and impart those learnings on my peers.

“I am excited for the course structure as I will not only be exposed to the best of the best in the industry, but it also provides an opportunity for ongoing feedback as well as an action plan and something measurable to work towards to ensure consistent development.

“It will be fantastic to meet like-minded individuals within the industry to share experiences and consequently grow.”

Last year, Mediaweek announced the Mediaweek Academy supporting partners for 2023, naming News Corp, Nova & LinkedIn.

Participants will get to travel to the News Corp, Nova and LinkedIn offices over the duration of the course to learn from the best in the business.

Tunbridge added, “I’m a hands-on learner, and believe the best learning comes from experience – as much as I love reading and consuming content about career development, leadership and creativity, the Mediaweek Academy will provide an invaluable experience that can’t be replicated with books and online learning.”

Additionally, Mediaweek announced the 2023 Mediaweek Academy ambassadors at the end of last year.

The ambassadors are Audience Precision’s head of media Jessica Bray, News Corp Australia’s independent agency sales manager Alexander Coucouvini and agency sales manager agency & key accounts NSW Victoria Isaac, and OMD’s account manager Sophie Cole.
