Australian and global audience surge for BBC.com and news app

Growth on BBC.com in Australia and globally has increasingly been driven by mobile unique browsers with a 44% increase year-on year from the first quarter of 2015. Comparatively global unique browsers is up 1.4% on desktop. News in particular is driving growth with traffic up 17% YOY in Australia and up 24% globally.

In line with the trend for consumers to move towards mobile, app usage also continues to grow steadily with traffic to the BBC news app up 24% in Australia and 32% globally. The BBC sport app is growing even faster showing an increase of 74% in Australian traffic and 69% globally.
