The Courier-Mail inducted in the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame

The Courier-Mail has been honoured for its chronicling of the state and its people over the past 169 years with its inclusion in the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame.

The Courier-Mail, which was first published as a four-page weekly in 1846 as the Moreton Bay Courier, has played a pivotal role in informing the Queensland public of important events both local and global.

It has remained in publication in various forms, changing names and formats but never its commitment to Queensland.

In accepting the award, deputy editor Chris Jones said it was an honour for all the staff, both past and present, to be recognised alongside other great Queensland businesses.

“The story of The Courier-Mail is of a newspaper that proudly considers itself a central part of life in the state it serves, and is honoured to know that its readers feel the same about it,” he said.
