America's Cup sets sail on Fox Sports

One of sport’s most prestigious competitions begins this weekend when the Louis Vuitton America's Cup begins and Fox Sports will be the only place to watch start-to-finish live action.

Bermuda will host the 35th event as the best sailors in the world vie for international sport’s oldest trophy.

Fans will be able to watch every race beginning with this Saturday’s qualifying series, which pits each of the six teams against each other twice in a round robin battle across eight days.

Fox Sports will deliver live, HD coverage of all the action, complemented with extensive replays, from qualifying through to the Challenger Playoffs and culminating with the America’s Cup best of 13 race final beginning June 18.

Fox Sports CEO Patrick Delany said: "The America’s Cup is an iconic sports event that ranks with few – only being conducted every four years and having deep history, it’s revered for its prestige, intense battles and fierce competitors.

“This era of America’s Cup sailing is incredible to watch – 15-metre cats reaching speeds of up to 85-kilometres per hour with sailors pushing themselves to the limit in relentless conditions. It’s edge-of-the-seat TV viewing."

This year’s revamped competition will see the reigning champions Oracle Team USA sail against the challengers for the first time as they look to etch their name in the history books by becoming just the second team to win three consecutive America’s Cup trophies.

Joining the defending champions is Emirates Team NZ, Artemis Racing, alongside three new teams in Groupama Team France, SoftBank Team Japan and Land Rover BAR, led by Olympic legend Sir Ben Ainslie.
