Australia’s biggest-selling daily newspaper the Herald Sun has unveiled its publishing plans for AFL Grand Final Week.

The paper has seized on the momentum of a Richmond grand final appearance – and the possibility of the club’s first premiership since 1980.

The newspaper will have over 20 reporters covering the game from every angle all week – including columnists Mark Robinson and Jon Ralph – with the Herald Sun’s team promising to deliver the most comprehensive AFL news in town.

Editor Damon Johnston said the paper would leave no stone unturned in its coverage of the final between the Tigers and the Crows.

“There’s no other place in Australia footy fans will be able to access such depth and breadth of AFL coverage than in the Herald Sun this week,” he said.

“Our award-winning team of reporters and photographers is unrivalled in its expertise.”

Additional footy elements on offer for readers throughout the week include a four-page Brownlow Medal super form guide and betting tips, Brownlow red carpet coverage, Brownlow Medal winner poster, “Go Tigers” banners and Tigers facemasks redeemable at newsagents, a free $5 Norm Smith medal bet, critical analysis on the two competing Grand Final teams – with all players ranked from 44 to 1 by resident expert Jon Ralph, an eight-page wrap of the paper on Grand Final day, live blog on match day, live coverage of the post-match press conference and more.

If the Tigers win the Premiership, a raft of additional special publications will be revealed.

“At the Herald Sun, we’re for keeping the AFL Premiership Cup in Victoria,” Johnson added. “We’re unashamedly barracking for the Tigers in a big way.”
