The NRL Women's Premiership kicks off on Sunday, airing live and free on Channel 9, 9Gem and 9Now from 12 pm AEDT.

The season begins with three back-to-back games at the McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, following a delayed start to the season.

It will be the biggest start to the year for the competition following the league's expansion with six more teams - Titans, Knights and Eels joining the Roosters, Dragons and Broncos - with the best female players in the Australian rugby league.

The Broncos are looking to defend their crown in what they hope to be their fourth NRL Women's Premiership.

For the first time in the NRLW, a finals series will be played in 2022, culminating in the Grand Final on Sunday, April 10, Moreton Daily Stadium in Redcliffe, Queensland.

Sunday's triple-header will be feature commentary from Emma Lawrence, Ruan Sims, Brad Fittler and Peter Psaltis.

Dragons V Titians start the season strong, airing in Sydney and Melbourne at 12 pm, Brisbane at 11 am, Adelaide at 11:30 am and Perth at 9 am.

Rounding out the day is the Knights V Eels kicking off in Sydney and Melbourne at 3:40 pm, Brisbane at 2:40 pm, Adelaide at 3:10 pm and Perth at 12:40 am.

It is also a massive year for women’s rugby league, which will include a fifth season of the NRLW competition, scheduled for later in 2022, and a fierce State of Origin match-up as well.

Nine will continue to deliver expert commentary from some of the game’s biggest names, plus hours of original digital content.

New to the line-up is NRLWrap, a new Thursday program hosted by Lawrence, along with Sims and Allana Ferguson.

The ladies will discuss and dissect each round of the competition, and the show is available to stream on 9Now and YouTube.
