The win came after the pair walked out of their show hours before

Having topped the Mediaweek 100 Star Power 25 list last week, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson have addressed the award on their radio show.

It was the pair’s first time back on air after leaving the show midway through on Friday. An interview with fellow broadcaster Alan Jones was dumped mid-interview due to what the pair called a “miscommunication,” and ultimately lead to the pair walking out of the show with more than an hour left to go.

After an extended break, a fill in announcer finished out the breakfast show.

A few hours later, Jackie O arrived at the Mediaweek 100 Power Lunch to accept the pair’s award for topping the Star Power 25.

“Out of all the stars, we were number one – what a day to win it,” Kyle said on the show on Monday morning.

“They were saying ‘oh what a power move, she goes off the air and then rocks up in a cape and takes her award!’” Henderson joked.

“It didn’t look odd, it looked amazing,” Sandilands replied.

Over the weekend, Jackie O had also posted that she was “so honoured” about the award on her Instagram story.

When newsreader Brooklyn Ross asked whether or not the dumping issue had been “smoothed over,” Sandilands replied “no, no it’s not smoothed over.”

Henderson cleared things up, however, saying “Yes it is, don’t lie! The thing is, it wasn’t even that big a deal in the first place.”

The sold-out Mediaweek 100 event saw a who’s who of media executives and talent attend from Seven, ARN, News Corp, Nine, Paramount, OMD, Nova, The Guardian, The Brag, Group M, Nova, The Daily Mail, Are Media, Havas, Mediabrands, Publicis, and more.
