Biggest movers:
Up: 101.1 Fox FM/SEN +0.8
Down: smoothfm 91.5 -1.5

3AW 15.6%

Afternoon announcer Denis Walter might have escaped a bullet with Steve Price’s move into afternoons meaning Price won’t be heard on 3AW any more. Walter remained #1 overall in afternoon this survey with share steady on 11.9%. The station itself was up 0.5% with small gains in breakfast and morning, while drive was down -0.1 and evening was also unchanged, on a massive share of 17.5%.

101.9 Fox FM 9.8%

Breakfast was key to the station reclaiming #1 FM as Fifi, Fev and Byron pushed share higher by 1.6 to 10.5%. That is the station’s best breakfast share in at least four years. Also breaking above 10% this survey was morning, with share up 1.3 to 10.5%. The station maintains strong #1 positions 18-24 and 25-39.

Gold 104.3 9.0%

Listening after 9am dropped close to 1.5 in morning, afternoon and drive. That being so it was a smaller drop in breakfast that helped limit the 10+ damage to a drop of 0.8. Christian O’Connell’s show was down to 7.0%, where he is just 0.5 ahead of an improving KIIS breakfast. Gold remains #1 overall 40-54 and is not far behind 3AW 55-64.

smoothfm 91.5 8.8%

A big correction in terms of movement at the former market leader with share down 1.5. The station share of 8.8% is the lowest since the end of 2017. Breakfast and morning share both dipped just over 2.0. Share dropped 3.0 55-64 this survey, in a demo that saw some big swings.

Nova 100 7.5%

Helping the station maintain a second successive survey on 7.5% was breakfast with Chrissie, Sam and Browny which was up 0.4 to 8.2%. Drive with Kate, Tim and Marty was up 0.2 to 8.8% where they rank #3 behind Fox and Gold.

KIIS 101.1 FM 6.3%

Good signs of life in the survey with the station enjoying its best result since 2017. Also improving with their best numbers since moving across the Tasman are Jase and PJ with breakfast lifting 1.3 to 6.5%.

105.1 Triple M 6.7%

The Hot Breakfast has fallen below the station average and its share of 6.4% is the lowest in over four years. Drive with Kennedy Molloy was down too, but it still outrates breakfast for a second consecutive survey.

SEN 4.1%

The departure of Kevin Bartlett could leave a hole just as the station posts its best share since 2016. KB’s drive show with The Doc jumped 1.3 this survey to 4.2%. Also enjoying a boost was morning with Gerard Whateley on 4.3% and breakfast with Tim Watson and Garry Lyon on 4.5%, the best result since Lyon joined the station.

Macquarie Sports 1279 0.2%

The numbers certainly indicate there is only room for one sports station in the market (not including RSN which doesn’t survey with GfK). This is the station’s second-worst result since launching. And it only just improved on that 2018 result by a whisker.
