The IAB Australia Audio Council has elected Chris Derrick, Southern Cross Austereo's head of digital strategy, to the position of co-chair.

Derrick brings 18 years of experience spearheading digital strategy, and takes over the role from Rick Gleave who was Council co-chair for the past two years.

Audio consumption on digital devices has grown with over 13 million Australians streaming music and radio every month according to Nielsen Digital Ratings Monthly. Commercialisation of these audiences is also on the rise with the IAB in the US reporting that digital audio advertising was worth $1.1b in 2016.

The Council is currently working on a number of education pieces including guidance on best use of creative across different audio offerings. It will be releasing a glossary of commonly used terms and metrics in the coming weeks, in line with a number of IAB Australia Councils that are also releasing glossaries to help set standards in terminology and establish a base understanding to move the industry forward.
