ARIA Charts: One Direction's first ARIA single #1 + Meghan Trainor back on top of ARIA album chart

Singles

Three new entries in the top 50 including the first #1 for One Direction – "Drag Me Down" – which is a track from their forthcoming fifth album. The new-look four-piece found the top spot despite a chart surge from Adam Lambert. The part-time lead singer for Queen, Lambert saw his "Ghost Town" single climb the chart from #16 to #2 off the back of an extensive promo tour that included a Nova Red Room in Sydney.
The only other change in the top 10 was Selena Gomez with "Good For You" moving to #10 from #12 after seven weeks on the chart.
There was chart action for coaches on The Voice this week with Delta Goodrem spiralling out of the top 10 with "Wings" down from #8 to #26 on its second week.
Meanwhile Jessie J saw "Flashlight" up from #30 to #23 after 13 weeks and a peak of #2.
The two other top 50 new entries were:
#31 "Omen" from Disclosure featuring Sam Smith
#37 "That's How You Know" from Nico & Vinz featuring Kid Ink & Bebe Rexha

Albums

Five new entries in the top 50 including new albums at #2 and #3 and a chart veteran (still with her first album) back at #1. Meghan Trainor has pushed "Title" back to top spot after 30 weeks on the chart! That has created a road block at the top for Josh Pyke with "But For All These Shrinking Hearts" new at #2 and Gurrumul #3 with "The Gospel Album".

#47 Buddy Guy with "Born To Play Guitar"
Several artists saw albums back in the top 50 including Adam Lambert with "The Original High" from #72 to #6 (after a peak earlier this year at #4), Jason Derulo with "Everything Is 4" from #70 to #13, Kendrick Lamar with "To Pimp A Butterfly" from #51 to #20 and three Led Zeppelin reissues back in the top 50 – "Presence" at #21, "Coda" at #23 and "In Through The Out Door" at #25.
