Aussie stars celebrate launch of Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon

To celebrate the launch of Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, a mix of celebrities and personalities gathered at the Australian Premiere on Tuesday, August 16, in Sydney.

Ryan Corr, who plays Ser Harwin ‘Breakbones’ Strong, was joined by a mix of celebrities, current and former sports stars, along with members of the industry to view the premiere. 

Guests were transported to a Westeros-inspired world as Binge transformed the Hoyts Entertainment Quarter into ‘The Dragon Quarter,’ before being among the first in the world to watch the opening episode ahead of its global premiere on Monday, August 22.

Joining Corr at the event was Rodger Corser (Doctor Doctor), Tim Campbell (Gogglebox), Anthony Callea (Gogglebox, Australian Singer), William Lodder (Love Me), NRL players James Tedesco, Damien Cook, Josh Addo-Carr, Kalyn Ponga, Fox League commentators Matty Johns and Steve Roach among others.

House of the Dragon is the highly anticipated prequel to global phenomenon Game of Thrones, set 200 years prior and tells the story of House Targaryen.

Earlier this year, Foxtel announced it will exclusively premiere the anticipated new series in 4K Ultra HD.

Additionally, Foxtel will also air the complete back catalogue of Game of Thrones in 4K Ultra HD ahead of the anticipated new prequel series. In vivid & life-like clarity, fans will be closer than ever before to the deception, destruction and deaths in all 73 episodes over eight seasons of the world’s most popular series.

Hilary Perchard, chief customer, marketing and revenue officer at Foxtel, said: “Foxtel brought Game of Thrones to Australia and helped it become one of the most-watched series of the decade.

“We’re thrilled to be the exclusive broadcaster of House of the Dragon in 4K Ultra HD in Australia, putting fans right in the action with the most intense and immersive viewing experience available,” she added.

House of the Dragon will premiere on Foxtel on Monday 22 August – at the same time as the U.S. The series will also be available to stream on Binge.
