Channel Seven announces release date for Australia's Got Talent
A world-first Got Talent twist ups the stakes in the new season
The long-awaited return of Australia’s Got Talent (AGT) to Channel Seven has today been announced, with a new era of the show launching on Sunday, October 9.
Returning as host is multi-platinum recording artist and Australian Idol alum Ricki-Lee, bringing guidance to the acts backstage as they prepare to step onto the AGT stage. The judging panel for AGT welcomes comedian and best-selling author David Walliams, actor and radio host Kate Ritchie, Britain’s Got Talent star Alesha Dixon and actor and entertainer Shane Jacobson.
Walliams was announced as an AGT judge in June of this year, as Mediaweek then reported that Walliams had taken the place of would-be judge Neil Patrick Harris after production of AGT was cancelled in 2021.
Boasting a new era of the Got Talent franchise, AGT ushers in a world-first twist, which will pit the Aussie acts against some of the world’s best Got Talent alumni. To secure their place in the Grand Final for their chance to win $100,000, the Australian acts must beat out the global Got Talent competition.
Judge Kate Ritchie said of the new season: “You might think you’ve seen it all before, but not like this. Australia is going to be blown away!”
Got Talent is the world’s largest entertainment platform, and AGT will delight audiences with jaw-dropping performances that will have the judges utter the coveted “yes from me” advancement of the act to the next round, or the dreaded buzz, taking the act out of contention for the big prize.

The series has now been in the works for two years, giving the hopefuls double the amount of time to work on their acts, with Seven’s chief content officer Angus Ross stating that this extra time will deliver AGT’s best season yet. Ross said: “This is AGT on a scale like never before – to be the best, you have to beat the best – I’m sure Australia will agree it’s been worth the wait.”
Australia’s Got Talent new era of acts and twists premieres at 7.00 pm on Sunday, 9 October on Channel Seven and 7Plus.
