TV Demand: The Handmaid’s Tale ends the reign of Marvel shows
• The series has shot to the top of all four charts
With the fourth series of The Handmaid’s Tale returning to screens, the series based on the dystopian novel of the same name has shot to the top of all four charts.
This week in Australia it is 25.1 points above average, and 16.96 points above average in New Zealand.
It is the first non-Marvel show to take first place since WandaVision took the top spot on Februrary 2nd. It's also the first non-Disney+ show to top the charts since The Mandalorian ahead of their second season launch in October 2020.
Last season of The Handmaid’s Tale ended when June and her handmaid friends gave up their seats on the escape flight from Gilead to Canada. They went and distracted guards instead, so that the 86 children onboard the plane could escape. As June ran away, she was shot.
This season picks up where the last left off, with June recovering from the gunshot wound and working out what to do next.
As Game of Thrones continues to enjoy its tenth anniversary celebrations, the iconic show has had a strong week on the charts. It came in at second on the Overall Australian charts at 24.78 points above market average, and third in New Zealand with 16.03 points above the market average.
Whilst fans of the show still hold a grudge about the last seasons of the show and the endings that the people of Westeros were given, viewers still seem to be switching back on to mark the anniversary of Game of Thrones.

Thie week the show averages 20.41 points above average in Australia and 12.4 points above average in New Zealand.
