The Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) has announced Anubha Sahasrabuddhe is joining the board.

Sahasrabuddhe is currently the CMO of Lion, a role she stepped into in January 2021.

Sahasrabuddhe is a highly accomplished consumer leader with over 20 years of experience across market-leading brands, including The Coca-Cola Company and Mars Wrigley, with a track record of business transformation.

AANA chair, Martin Brown, said: "Lion is a longstanding member and contributor to AANA, and we are delighted to welcome Anubha as a director to the board.

"She brings significant global FMCG experience in building brands in diverse markets," he added.

Sahasrabuddhe said of joining the board: "I am looking forward to working with my fellow board members to support the vital leadership role of AANA as a strong voice for Australian advertisers in challenging economic times, and to highlight the contribution a responsible advertising and marketing industry makes."

Sahasrabuddhe's board membership comes after the appointment of Josh Faulks as the AANA chief executive officer last month.

Faulks takes over the role from interim CEO Julie Flynn in October following an extensive and highly competitive international search process.

Brownchair of AANA Board, said the Board is very excited about this new appointment. “With strong economic headwinds and media fragmentation accelerating, now more than ever, Australian brands need a strong unified voice,” he said.

“Josh is a proven leader who is extremely well placed to revitalise AANA to be that voice at a particularly challenging and important time for our industry,” Brown added.

Faulks said said he was excited to be taking on the role. “AANA is in great shape and I’m looking forward to building on its strong foundation to cement its role as a powerful advocate and the voice for advertisers in Australia.

“My immediate priorities will be to protect and strengthen the self-regulatory model, to help members build the capabilities of their teams so they can attract and retain talent, and to bring the industry back together post COVID,” he added.
