Sweeney Advertising is celebrating 25 years in business, marking a milestone for one of Australia’s long-running independent agencies.

Established in 2001, the founder-led agency has built its reputation across media strategy, planning and buying, working across a mix of Australian and international brands while remaining independently owned through major shifts in the media market.

Over that period, the agency has navigated the transition from traditional media buying into a more fragmented digital and data-led environment, while maintaining its focus on long-term client relationships and measurable outcomes.

Founder reflects on industry change

Craig Sweeney, founder and chief executive officer of Sweeney Advertising, said the anniversary reflects both business resilience and consistent client trust.

“Reaching 25 years is something we’re incredibly proud of. The industry has changed dramatically, but our focus has remained consistent - smart strategy, strong media thinking, and delivering real results for our clients,” Sweeney said.

The agency said its longevity has been shaped by adapting to structural industry shifts, including digital media growth, performance measurement, data-led planning and changing consumer behaviour.

Independent model remains central

Sweeney Advertising said its independent positioning continues to underpin its media philosophy, with accountability and practical strategy remaining core to its operations.

Sweeney said the next phase of the business will focus on capability growth across digital, data and integrated media solutions.
