Searches of 'republic' shot up by 1568%

Taboola has today released readership data of publisher sites, revealing interest in the Royal Family has dominated online readership since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on the 8th of September.

The study showed that online readership about Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has amassed 8.7 million page views in 90 days, an increase of 9,433 per cent, measuring a staggering 2.4 million page views on the day of her passing (9 September in Australia).

Powering open web recommendations, Taboola gathers readership data through an aggregate of cross-network users, ensuring user privacy while gleaning data to inform advertisers about the behaviours and interests of their audience.

With over 2,000 people expected to attend the historic funeral, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, US President Joe Biden and Australian of The Year 2022 Dylan Alcott, the study released by Taboola shows how readership behaviours have informed local and national news.

"Republic" was up by 1,568 per cent, illustrating renewed interest in understanding the long-held campaign for Australia to become a republic. The discovery of these topics revealed the following of audience readership behaviours:
